Max,

I read your message that you presented at Len Atkins funeral. I just want to tell you how inspired your thoughts and words were. They reflect the man of God that you truly are. I was very moved by what you said and by the loss of Lenny. Thanks so much for leading us here in UCC.

Max,
As a leader of the UCC, I was wondering what your thoughts would be on an institution that terminates the employment of an individual without warning? By warning, I mean there was no developmental steps taken to develop the employee so that they were not having “performance issues”. As a matter of fact, there wasn’t even any discussion about these issues with the employee at any time.

To compound the situation, the employee still hasn’t been told what the “performance issues” were to this date. This has caused a real emotional hardship for the individual not to mention the fact that no other employer will give them a chance at a job because they can’t tell the prospective employer why they were let go.

As a leader of a religious organization, I was wondering what you would suggest for a person who is in this situation. It seems that the employer course of action in this case is not very biblical but that seems to be the way our society is headed.

I await your response. Thanks

Dear Max,
Wow! I have never had the privilege or opportunity to hear you preach but your funeral service for Mr. Lenny was outstanding. I don’t even know this man and you brought me to tears. Linnea had told me that she loved to hear you preach and I can certainly understand now. What a wonderful talent! You have been blessed with a true gift from God. Sometimes on Sabbath, I go on the internet and read about churches and conferences, especially now that camp meetings are all on the schedules. About two years ago I saw your site but there wasn’t much. You have really made some great and very interesting additions. I enjoyed reading about your life, your journey. I didn’t know you were in Jamestown, ND. I have been there and I thought it was a great little town. I hope your parents are doing well, happy and healthy. That goes for all your family, too! Penny told me how much she enjoyed seeing you at the reunion. I just talked to her last week because I know this is a difficult month for her. She said she still misses her dad very much but she thanks God that it is getting easier. Also, Marti’s mother died on your birthday. She and I wrote back and forth quite intently the month before because she was feeling so very discouraged. Now she is just trying to put the two houses together and move back in with Jim. She said it was like a second honeymoon! I guess as long as I am rambling on I better tell you about Sue. In April, she fell, tripping over a parking curb and shattered her femur and had to have a complete hip replacement. Poor thing, but her spirit is great, she is looking for God’s blessing in all of it. We had a good laugh though because I told her she was the first to become a grandmother and now the first to have a hip replacement! She is recuperating at home and is doing out-patient physical therapy.
Saman and I leave Tehran the middle of June for London. I am taking him to the Egyptian King Tut exhibition that is there this summer. We plan to be in Spokane the month of July. The whole family is arriving at Ted’s home. Alan is even coming in from the Ukraine. Saman is going to Camp Mivoden early teen camp again this summer. While he is a camp I spend that whole week with my dad.
If you and Linnea are free, anytime, I am inviting you and it would be our pleasure to have you for dinner some evening or some Sabbath after church. I will call you in July but mark your calendar now!!!
It is almost sun set here. I have had a wonderful day of rest and as you begin yours, may God richly bless you.
